Since its founding in 1957, the Better Sports Club of Arlington has played a prominent role in providing and encouraging support for youth and scholastic sports programs throughout Arlington County with a mission “to promote useful citizenship through the medium of sports.” The Club is dedicated to serving Arlington youth and to fostering the principle of fair play, good sportsmanship, a competitive spirit, tolerance and friendship. The Better Sports Club of Arlington sponsors teams in Arlington Cal Ripken Babe Ruth, Arlington Senior Babe Ruth, Arlington Little League, Arlington Girls Softball Association, Arlington Youth Football, Arlington Soccer Association, Youth Ultimate League of Arlington, Arlington Field Hockey, Arlington Youth Volleyball and Arlington Youth Lacrosse.
Over the years, the Club’s annual Awards Banquet has become a treasured Arlington institution and an important and unifying element for Arlington’s high school sports community. This year, BSC awarded scholarships to the male and female athletes-of-the year chosen from nominees presented by the four area high schools. A total of thirty-one outstanding student-athletes where recognized, as well as three youth athletes from Arlington youth leagues, and four adults who have demonstrated outstanding support for youth sports in Arlington. |
