The Better Sports Club invited our 2023 Coach of the Year for our March speaker dinner and it was a fun one! 

Greg led the Patriots to the 2021 Virginia State Championship. We can ask Greg about the upcoming Spring season, including the first game of the season vs Centreville from the night prior to our dinner (hence the reason for the date change!). 

In 2019, after 13 seasons as the YHS head lacrosse coach, Coach Beer challenged himself to reinvention. Specifically, he reimagined off-season workouts, reflected on how to best offer opportunities for his players in the off-season and empowered alumni coaches to help. His efforts were not in vain, as Yorktown won the VA state championship in 2021 and a regional championship in 2022. As a result of his commitment to continual improvement and his belief in his players & staff, Yorktown is a perennial contender. It's not just his success on the field - Greg is known as a wonderful role model of sportsmanship and character.
